Block paving driveways in the Scottish Borders
Block paving driveways, paths and patios for homes and businesses across the Borders, in the size, shape, colour and pattern that suits your property.

Who we are
Paving that adds character and lasts
We lay block paving driveways, paths and patios for homes and businesses across the Scottish Borders. Our family-run team has more than 20 years' experience, and every job is fully insured.
From our office in Carlisle and our depot in Canonbie, we can visit most Borders properties quickly to talk through styles and colours and give you a free, no-obligation quote.
Why block paving
Why choose block paving?

Built properly, from the ground up
Over 20 years of getting the groundwork right, so the finish stays right.
Versatile, beautiful design
Different sizes, shapes and colours let you create a look that matches your style or complements your property.
Durable
Made to withstand heavy use and bad weather, and individual blocks can be replaced if one is ever damaged.
Low maintenance
Sand-filled joints let water drain and help prevent weeds, so regular cleaning is about all it needs.

Patterns and finishes
Herringbone, basketweave, borders and more
Block paving gives you more design freedom than almost any other surface. Contrasting borders, inlays and laying patterns can define parking areas, lead the eye to your front door or tie the drive in with a new patio.
We will bring brochures and samples to your free visit and help you choose a block style and colour that suits your home.

Honest advice
Is it right for your property?
We lay every surface, so we have no reason to push one. Here is the straight answer.
A great choice if
- You want patterns, borders and real character
- You like being able to repair a single block
- The drive takes daily use from several cars
- You want the drive to tie in with a patio or path
Think twice if
- You hate weeding joints (resin may suit you better)
- You need to cover a very long drive on a tight budget (tarmac)
- You want a completely seamless look

How it works
How we lay your block paving driveway
- Step 1
Free quote
We visit, measure up, check levels and drainage, and help you choose a block style and colour.
- Step 2
Digging out
The old surface and soil are removed to the right depth so the new driveway stays level for years.
- Step 3
Sub-base
Crushed stone is laid and compacted. It carries the weight of your cars, so it is the most important part of the job.
- Step 4
Edging
Kerbs or edging blocks are set in concrete to hold the paving firmly in place.
- Step 5
Laying the blocks
The blocks are laid on a screeded sand bed in your chosen pattern, and the edges are cut neatly to fit.
- Step 6
Finishing
The surface is compacted, kiln-dried sand is brushed into the joints and the site is cleaned up.

Great company, really high standard of work. Will definitely be recommending to my friends and family.
Although the team had to work on an extremely hot day, it all came good in the end. Many thanks to Johnny, his son also Johnny, Darren, Gary, Liam and Rory.

FAQs
Questions we get asked
Talk to the team who will actually do the job.
Every 2 to 5 years, depending on wear and the weather it faces. Regular cleaning and maintenance also help it last longer.
It depends on the job. Block paving materials usually cost less than resin, but on a very large area, or where the ground needs a lot of preparation, resin can work out cheaper. The best way to compare is a free quote, where we can price both options.
Up to 20 to 30 years with proper installation and regular maintenance. Lifespan also depends on the quality and thickness of the blocks, how much the drive is used and the climate. Keeping it clean and free from weeds, repairing damage promptly and sealing it regularly all help.
Yes. One of the advantages of block paving is that individual blocks can be lifted and replaced without disturbing the rest of the driveway.
