Resin driveways across Cumbria
Resin bound driveways across Cumbria
Real kerb appeal that stands up to heavy use and Cumbrian weather. We lay resin driveways, paths and patios from Carlisle and Longtown to Penrith and Cockermouth.

Built for rural Cumbria
Permeable, practical and good looking
A resin bound driveway is a mix of natural aggregate and a clear resin binder, trowelled by hand into a smooth, even finish. There are no loose stones to scatter, nothing for weeds to grow through and nothing to rake back into place.
Given how rural much of Cumbria is, the permeable finish is a big plus. Water soaks through to the ground below, which reduces puddles and flooding on sloping or low-lying drives.
Many jobs can be laid as an overlay on a sound existing tarmac or concrete base, which saves time and cost. If your current drive isn't suitable, we will prepare a new base first. Every job starts with a free site visit, where we measure up, check the ground and show you samples from our colour chart.
The benefits
What a resin driveway gives you

Built properly, from the ground up
Over 20 years of getting the groundwork right, so the finish stays right.
Porous and permeable
Rainwater drains straight through the surface instead of pooling, so you get a puddle-free drive that is far less likely to flood.
Long-lasting durability
Bound stone resists cracking, frost and oil damage, and copes with everyday traffic from cars and vans.
Low maintenance
No weeds through the joints and no loose gravel to rake back. A sweep and a rinse keeps it looking new.

Honest advice
Is it right for your property?
We lay every surface, so we have no reason to push one. Here is the straight answer.
A great choice if
- You want a smooth, modern finish with no loose stones
- Your drive puddles or floods after heavy rain
- You would rather sweep than weed
- Your existing tarmac or concrete is sound enough to overlay
Think twice if
- The current base is cracking or sinking: it needs fixing first
- The surface takes regular heavy farm vehicles
- You need the lowest possible price on a very long drive

FAQs
Questions we get asked
Talk to the team who will actually do the job.
Yes. Resin bound driveways are known for being extremely durable. Correctly installed and well looked after, they last for many years, and because weeds cannot grow through and there are no loose stones, they keep looking good with very little effort.
It depends on the job. Block paving materials usually cost less than resin, but on a very large area, or where the ground needs a lot of preparation, resin can work out cheaper. Resin also needs less upkeep over the years. The best way to compare is a free quote, where we can price both options for your driveway.
Prices are usually fairly close. Resin bound surfaces have a stronger bond that copes better with extreme temperatures and harsh weather, while tarmac is more likely to weather and crack over time, so resin can be the more cost-effective choice in the long run.
Often, yes. If your current tarmac or concrete is sound, we can lay resin as an overlay, which saves the time and cost of a brand new sub-base. If it is not suitable, we prepare a new base first.
We advise keeping cars off a newly laid resin driveway for at least 24 hours, and possibly longer depending on the weather.
Yes, up to a maximum of 150 bar. Use a fan lance held at least 200mm above the surface, and cold water only.
A resin bound surface is usually laid 15mm to 20mm thick over a sound base of tarmac, concrete or hot rolled asphalt.
